Prologue

I started packing today, which made a semester in South Africa seem like a reality for the first time. Cape Town still seems a far way off; I still have eleven days left in the States, including a long drive to the Twin Cities and a two-day flight from there. But since my suitcase is now (mostly) packed, I figured it would be as good a time as any to start up that customary study-abroad blog. So here goes.

I get to Cape Town on January 9th and will be there until May, studying the Truth & Reconciliation Commission with a group of students from Bethel University. We'll be staying with host families and taking classes at Cornerstone Christian College, with a few weeks for travel and two weeks living in one of Cape Town's townships. For the past month I've been nothing but nerves- I haven't met any of my fellow travelers yet- but I'm starting to get genuinely excited as well. When we leave tomorrow for Minnesota, I think it'll finally sink in that I'm actually on my way.

Anyways, I have no idea what this blog will look like. I suppose we'll have to see when I actually get there. (!) Bye for now.
